Empowering Families: A Weekend of Learning and Fun
Having a strong family within a community is vital as it fosters essential values, emotional support, and stability. Good families contribute to a positive environment, raise responsible individuals, and strengthen social bonds. This creates a more connected, caring, and resilient community where people can thrive together. That is why the Light for All Foundation (LfA) invests in building stronger families.
On February 24-25, 2024, LfA successfully conducted a family retreat, catering to 197 family members at St. Michael Retreat House in Antipolo, Rizal. The retreat was not only enjoyable but also highly informative.
On the first day, participants were divided into three groups: Kids, Youth, and Parents. The children engaged in activities that encouraged courage, wearing superhero costumes to symbolize bravery. The youth participated in discussions about their identities, fostering self-awareness and confidence. Meanwhile, parents attended sessions focused on addressing family matters and improving communication at home. The day was filled with fun games that facilitated bonding, and volunteers from Dubai generously provided gifts for everyone.
The second day was spent at Flamingo Resort in Marikina, where families enjoyed bonding time while basking in the sun and splashing in the water. Overall, the retreat offered a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, learn, and strengthen their relationships, further contributing to a vibrant community.
