EmpowHER: Building Resiliency and Businesses through Sustainable Livelihood Program
The Light for All Foundation (LfA) proudly launched the Professional Learning Series, a program designed to provide structured learning opportunities that meet continuing education requirements for social workers and psychologists. The program also emphasizes effective strategies for collaboration among professionals to enhance multidisciplinary approaches to client care and support.
The series consists of two components:
- Theoretical Learning: Conducted online, this phase offered participants foundational knowledge and strategies to improve their professional practice.
- Practical Application: Participants engaged directly with communities, applying what they learned in real-life scenarios to create meaningful impact.
As part of the practical component, a team of psychologists and social workers collaborated to develop a livelihood program aimed at empowering women in Quezon City to establish small businesses. With support from the Social Services and Development Department (SSDD) and the principal of Pinyahan Elementary School, the team organized skills training workshops. During the sessions, 17 women were taught how to produce dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent. To support their entrepreneurial journey, participants were provided with startup kits, enabling them to independently produce and sell their products.
The initiative didn’t end with the workshops. The committee closely monitored the participants’ progress, ensuring their success. The women not only sold their products effectively but also received additional training in Resiliency Building and Financial Management. These sessions provided the tools and knowledge needed for sustainable growth and self-reliance.
LfA is deeply grateful to all partners and contributors, especially the principal of Pinyahan Elementary School, for providing the venue for this initiative. This project exemplifies the power of multidisciplinary collaboration, equipping women with practical skills and opportunities to improve their lives and their community.
