Skills for Life: Scouts Engage in Leadership, Survival, and Navigation Training

Light for All Foundation, in collaboration with Victoria Scouts from Melbourne Australia, successfully hosted a three-day scout training on January 21, 22 & 24, 2025, at Flora Ylagan High School. The program aimed to equip young scouts with essential life skills, leadership abilities, and outdoor survival techniques.

A total of 34 Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts participated in the training, actively engaging in various hands-on activities and learning sessions. Each day focused on a specific set of skills:

Day 1: Leadership Skills & Teamwork – Scouts learned effective communication, problem-solving, and collaboration techniques to strengthen their ability to work as a team and take on leadership roles.

Day 2: Survival Skills and First Aid – Participants were taught essential survival strategies, including fire-making, shelter-building, and emergency response techniques, with a strong emphasis on basic first aid.

Day 3: Map Orientation & Compass Use – Scouts developed their navigation skills, learning how to read maps accurately, use a compass, and navigate through unfamiliar terrain.

The training fostered camaraderie, resilience, and self-reliance among the young scouts, providing them with valuable knowledge that they can apply in real-life situations. The event was a success, thanks to the dedication of the Victoria Scouts facilitators, Flora Ylagan High School Assistant Principal Jasthyne Salazar and the Head of their Boys and Girls Scout, Mrs. Maricris Chua and the enthusiasm of the participants.

Voice of Success:

– Krizza Mosqueda, FYHS Girl Scout
