Light for All Foundation Brings Holiday Cheer to Quezon City Female Jail Dormitory
The Light for All Foundation (LfA), together with a group of volunteers from Australia, spread the holiday spirit through an early Christmas activity at the Quezon City Female Jail Dormitory. LfA extends its gratitude to JCINSP Lourvina L Abrazado, the City Jail Warden of the dormitory, for welcoming us. The program was designed to uplift the spirits of the women in the facility while promoting hope, inclusivity, and diversity during the festive season.
The event began with a warm introduction, setting a welcoming and inclusive tone for all participants. This was followed by a heartfelt performance by the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), who showcased their diverse talents and creativity. The performance highlighted the unique gifts and strengths each individual possesses, regardless of their circumstances. Afterward, the group was given a guided tour of the facility, offering a deeper understanding of the women’s lives and the challenges they face.
To foster a sense of community and inclusivity, the attendees were divided into three groups to participate in games, sing-alongs, and meaningful discussions prepared by the volunteers. These activities encouraged participants to embrace their differences and work together as one.
During an initial visit to the facility, the Foundation discovered that many of the women’s cases were drug-related. In response, the volunteers led a session to educate the women about the harmful effects of illegal drugs. Additionally, a lesson on hope was shared, emphasizing the importance of embracing diversity, inclusion, and the strength of community. This lesson reflected the true meaning of Christmas and inspired the women to look forward to a brighter, more inclusive future.
To support the educational needs of the women, who attend online classes in groups, LfA also donated three large speakers and two smaller ones. This donation was intended to enhance their learning experience and provide better access to education, ensuring that every woman had an opportunity to participate fully in their studies.
This initiative is a testament to the power of compassion and community, as the Light for All Foundation, the QCFJD team and the Australian volunteers worked hand in hand to bring light and love to the Quezon City Female Jail Dormitory during this holiday season.
