Bringing Care Closer: Medical Mission at Flora Ylagan High School
Flora Ylagan High School recently partnered with the Light for All Foundation to hold a two-day medical mission for its students. The event was on November 26-27, 2024 and was led by LFA team, Australian volunteers and Mrs. Jasthyne Cates Salazar, the school’s Officer-in-Charge, who worked hard to bring healthcare closer to the school community.
The medical mission served 41 patients who received consultations with a general practitioner and 35 patients who received dental care. Dr. Nashwa Botros, a general practitioner from Australia, provided medical consultations. Dental services were offered by John Michael, a dentist from Australia, and Sheila Lapada, a Filipino dentist.
A local nurse and group of medical students from Australia volunteered their time and skills to assist during the mission. They helped organize the event by doing triage and interviewing patients before they were seen by the doctors. Their dedication made the event run smoothly and efficiently.
This mission was a great example of teamwork and community service. It not only provided much-needed healthcare but also showed the importance of working together to help students stay healthy.
